What are Technical Committees?

CEI Technical Committees are the technical bodies in which normative documents (standards and technical guides) are discussed, elaborated and approved within their field of competence.

The Full, Promoting and ex officio Members, through the members of CEI Committees and Sub-Committees appointed by them, are the protagonists of the normative activity.

The members of the CEI Committees and Sub-Committees contribute to the formation of the Italian national position in the European and international arena, propose National Standards on topics of national interest and contribute to their preparation, indicate and prepare National Technical Guides on topics where it is appropriate to reorganise and clarify the existing normative situation and specify the modalities of application of the technical standards, including the European ones.

Why participate?

Since the law requires products and installations to be built 'in accordance with the rules of art' and identifies the application of CEI standards as a method for this to be respected, it is fair to say that participating in the work of the CEI allows one to know in advance the evolution of technical rules and the rules of art and to contribute directly to their development.

In order to be protagonists, and not mere spectators, it is important to be a CEI Full Member and to nominate members to the Technical Committees and Sub-Committees.

In order to be able to actively participate in the normative activity, it is possible to access the relevant CEI - CENELEC - IEC Technical Committees by means of the "Collaboration Tool" function.
